Keep London Moving

 

 

 

Over the years the councils of London have been blocking roads with barriers, making one way road systems that have reduced the space that cars can travel through London roads.

London is a historic city with the central part only made for horse and cart and as you travel more out of central London the roads become wider and the roads link-up very well. But if local government traffic departments have restricted the flow of traffic and so many traffic lights it’s going to create the problem rather than making London pleasant for road users.

Now we have a London Mayor Office it’s the responsibility of Transport for London to regulate and control both the highway network as well as public transport. The new Mayor for London Mr. Boris Johnson is more friendly towards road users than the first elected London Mayor Mr. Ken Livingstone.

The other single greater cause for more and longer rush hour traffic that has made morning traffic as well as evening traffic increase because of the Congestion Charge Zone, which covers central London and the Western part of London. Again the same policy of restricting traffic and charging to enter the central and west part of London has caused more traffic on the borders of the congestion charge zone, so traffic flow has been disrupted and increases in pollution in these areas.

 

• What needs to happen to get the traffic less congested and clogged through mismanagement of our highway network is to scrap the                             

  Congestion Charge Zone so traffic can move through the city as well as around London.

 

• Less traffic lights and more intelligent traffic lights that won’t change if pedestrians walk away from the pedestrian crossing.

 

• Better and cheaper parking so that people will use public ca parks rather than clogging-up the streets on the edge of London or near where

  underground train stations or bus stations are.
